2009 Betty Ballasch Invitation

Thank you The Fresh Market and Not Just Bagels for donating delicious food items for our home meet. We really appreciate your support!

It was HOT, HOT, HOT!!!  We did it again!   Barracudas put up another great meet!  A job well done for all families who made this meet a huge success. We especially appreciate our wonderful Grill Master, Jeff VerSteeg, for taking the additional heat - you are the best and what a yummy hot dogs and burgers you cooked for us!!!   Thanks Jeff!

A great meets don't come without a price... Jane King, who have served as the board president, is making her move to Germany. Her dedication and contribution to the team will not be easily forgotten. Her tireless effort to lead the team in ways that many of us can learn and enbrace was evident during her service.   We will definitely miss her.   Along with Jane, Becca will be terribly missed by her teammates as well.   Becca has been a great friend to many. Her sweet smiles and cheerful attitudes were always pleasant and will remain in our memory.  Keep smiling and keep swimming, Becca!   Thank you both for your hard work and friendship. Enjoy Germany!!!

Congratulations, once again, to James Simmons!!! We wish you much success in your collegiate swimming endeavors. Go James!!!

More About Sheila Taormina and Barracudas
Sheila Taormina in 5 Sports Sheila Taormina and Caitlin Myers
Bluewater Barracudas were fortunate this week to spend time with Gold Medallist and History making Olympic Athlete Sheila Taormina. Sheila was coming to the area to visit and planned to spend a few hours with the team. This was the relay clinic on Sunday. As plans evolved all area swimmers had the opportunity (a big thanks to Hilton of Sandestin) to hear Sheila's motivational speech on how an ordinary girl made Olympic history. Sheila is the 1st woman in History to compete in 3 sports (swimming-triathlon-pentathlon). Athletes and families were then able to wear the Gold Medal and have pictures done with Sheila. As a special treat - again courtesy of the Hilton- Caitlin Myers, a swimmer and aspiring pentathlete had dinner with Sheila. For those team members who took advantage of these opportunities I hope you will apply some of the lessons learned by Sheila to your own lives and athletic careers. For those who were unable to I hope you always remember that a coaches job is to provide you opportunities to learn and advance-its your job to take advantage of them. Thank You again to Sheila and the Hilton for making this a memorable way to finish the 2008-2009 SC season
